Residents and visitors have observed the many varieties of birds at Mt Wilson and Mt Irvine for many years. The goal of this section is to provide information on local birds, help make it easier to identify a bird people observe locally, and to keep a record of birds which have been seen.

Birds will be added to the listing of known local birds when we are informed about the sighting.

There are several websites with much information about local birds. An excellent one is Birds in Backyards and this is worth visiting, it also includes a bird call recording for many of the birds. Also helpful is Wikipedia. Where possible, links to both these sources are under 'More information' for each bird species in the table in the List of Local Birds page.
