Along Bells Line of Road

Four hours. This has always been a favourite walk for the Mount Wilson families and a good place for a picnic.

The track leads off to the south from the Bell's Line of Road between Mount Tomah and the Mount Wilson turn-off, and there is a sign indicating Mount Banks. You can park at the end of the road. Walk out to the lookout and return over the top. This is a lovely walk and not too difficult. There are superb views of the Grose Valley at the lookout, and wonderful northern views as you come down off Mount Banks. There are many wild flowers in spring and summer. This walk can be done in reverse.

(a) Walls Lookout - allow 1 hour.

The road leads off Bell's Line of Road at Pierce's Pass between the south side of the Mount Banks turn-off and the Mount Wilson turn-off.

Park the car at the top car park and follow the track out to the Walls Lookout. This is the easier of the two walks with a great view of the Grose Valley and lovely wild flowers.

(b) Rigby Hill - allow 1½ hours.

Drive down the steep hill to the lower car park. Walk along the rough track up on to the ridge, down into a little dip and up onto Rigby Hill. The wild flowers are lovely in late spring and there is a great view from the end of the track of the Grose Valley.

Both walks are good picnic places

Four to five hours.

The track leads off Bell's Line of Road between Mount Tomah and the Mount Wilson turn-off. There are sign posts and one drives down to the picnic area. An excellent longer walk with a big haul up. Lovely views. There is a little rainforest. On a hot day one can have a dip in the Grose River.
