Residents and visitors have observed the many varieties of birds at Mt Wilson and Mt Irvine for many years. The goal of this section is to provide information on local birds, help make it easier to identify a bird people observe locally, and to keep a record of birds which have been seen. Birds will be added to the table when we are informed about the sighting.

1.     List of Local Birds

The main page has a table listing local birds includes a brief description of each local bird, a small image, and links to other websites with more information about the particular bird. Please visit this page.

2.     When you see a new or rare species, please add notes to the forum, or just visit the forum to read the latest news

Please visit the forum to read about the latest sightings and comments. The forum is maintained for people to write about local birds and particularly sightings of new or rare species. We encourage you to record your experiences with bird observations on this blog.

There are several websites with much information about local birds. An excellent one is Birds in Backyards and this is worth visiting, it also includes a bird call recording for many of the birds. Also helpful is Wikipedia. Where possible, links to both these sources are under 'More information' for each bird species in the table in the List of Local Birds page.
